Peace

The past few days, we have had some serious weather.  Two nights in a row, we have been woken up by really loud thunder.  I mean, like house shaking loud thunder.  Ahh, the joys of hurricane season.  As Lee came through our area, we got a ton of much-needed rain, not-so-needed wind, and really loud thunder.  Last night, it seemed like it was louder than normal.  There is nothing like being woken up from a peaceful dream by a loud boom...ahh, hurricane season.

Last night, my dear sweet children lay in their beads, peacefully sleeping, when BOOM...the loudest thunder I think I have ever heard shook our house.  We listened for cries from down the hall, and sure enough, my sweet baby girl was scared.  My son, on the other hand, could probably sleep through anything. Not a peep.  So I go to her room, and she is sitting up in bed, saying she had to potty.  She was shaking so hard, however, that she could not go...poor thing.  So I did what any loving mommy would do...I tucked her in to bed between Caleb and I.  The instant her head touched the pillow, she was out again.  There is nothing like the safe, secure arms of mommy and daddy.  Even though the thunder was booming all around us, she was safe, so she slept.

So at 1:30 in the morning, I was holding my sleeping child, listening to the storm all around us, and the thought came to my mind of how many times I have cried out to my Father, and I too, feel the safeness and security of His arms, wrapping around me.  How many times though, do we hear the storms of life around us, and think, Oh I can handle this myself...and forget that the Father's arms are right there, waiting for us to run to them.  Don't forget, the next time a storm comes, that the Father is right there, waiting to hold you and bring you peace.

  1. ...and we as parents never mind the inconvenience of it somehow either. It's good to know that God LOVES to show His love for us.

I love parenthood for so many things, but a big reason is because it helps me understand God and His love so much more.

Hope you survive the next round of hurricanes...don't miss that about Florida!
